Hi Daniel,

Thank you for the great article. I've also posted in CodeProject.com, but no one seem to answer.

You sample project works fine; but when I implemented in my project. I get error at SynchronousChannelBroker.PerformAction<string, string>(...).

When I drill down, I found out System.ThrowHelper.ThrowKeyNotFoundException() at
public TChannel GetChannel<TChannel>()
{
}

Do you have any idea where the problem might be? Thank you so much for your help!!!

Hi Daniel,

Please ignore about the previous code. I found out that I did not use ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem; that is why exception is throwing.

I've a quick question. I would like to wait for the return result before ending the GetGreetingFromServer method. Could you please give me some hints? Thank you so much and appreciate your help!!!

   string strResult;

   DisplayGreeting(string.Empty);

   #region Call service synchronously on a thread pool thread using the ChannelManager.

Hi Daniel,

We are trying to write some functionality of our ERP system with Silverlight.
And I'm very interesting synchronous web service call.
I'm using Silverlight 3.0!!!
I have error "This operation can only occur on the UI Thread." on first line (creating ChannelFactory).

My code:

ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(delegate
{
                try
                {
                    var channelFactory = new ChannelFactory<_2000_Rich.Service_Buffered.Service_Buffered>("BasicHttpBinding_Service_Buffered");
                    WCFServiceUriProvider wcfProv = new WCFServiceUriProvider("Service_Buffered.svc");
                    channelFactory.Endpoint.Address = wcfProv.getEndPoint();

                    var simpleService = channelFactory.CreateChannel();

It's still posible in Silverlight 3.0?

Hi Daniel,

I tired implementing your code, but I get the error invalid cross thread access.  Could you please help.

I'm using let latest version of Silverlight 2 (right before they went to 3).

Daniel,

Send me please any very simple example in SVL 3.0 with using asynchronous call.

In my opinion such calling is not possible in SVL 3.0.
